Tennessee State walked into the second Southern Heritage Classic with a big victory under its belt from last year’s Classic.
Plus, their opponent this year was Mississippi Valley State, a more rural and smaller school than last year’s Jackson State.
The David and Goliath analogy ends there, however.
That Saturday, Mississippi Valley showed the 25,891 fans at the game who was the real giant in this Classic – even if the margin of victory was very slight.
The defensive battle was only half the 34 points scored in the inaugural Classic, but the game itself was plenty of drama.
